Alamo, CA – Carlo Louis Zocchi also known by his grandchildren as Gaggie, 95, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. The definition of a true patriarch, Carlo lived his life for his family. He was born in Pittsburg, CA on December 21, 1926.
His family, friends, faith, and his business were most important to him. A mentor to so many, Carlo taught the importance of relationships and family. He always strived to bring the family together and regularly checked in on his loved ones.
He met his wife, Frances Patricia Enea at a dance in Pittsburg in 1952. They later began dating and were married shortly after on Valentine’s Day 1954.
Carlo was a veteran of the US Navy. He was on the USS Hunter Liggett in the South Pacific during WWII.
He was an entrepreneur from the start. He started his own hot dog stand at the age of 12 and later became a butcher. In the 1950’s Carlo started a large construction development company. He was responsible for the construction of many communities and thousands of homes in the East Bay. His third-generation family company continues to this day.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. In these roles, he always brought out the best in everyone. He taught the importance of unconditional love, hard work, respect, loyalty and family.
Carlo was involved in giving back to his community. He was on the board of a number of charities, and he loved giving back to the church. Carlo also loved the game of golf.
He is survived by his loving wife Frances; daughters, Paula Lenahan (Kevin) and Claudia McCaffery (Tim); sons, Louis Zocchi (Rene’) and Carl Zocchi; grandchildren, Eric, Megan, Calvin, Griffin, Avery, Carlo, Gian, and great-grandchild; Camila. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank and Richie.
There will be a service held at St. Isidore Church in Danville, CA at 11am on Tuesday April 12, 2022, with a reception immediately following the service for friends and family.
